We will reply to your comment shortly· 11/02/2022Will the solid stain peel and how long before I will need to re do?

We will reply to your comment shortlyI'd like to seal a 15 year old screened in porch that was made from cedar. We would like to keep the appearance as nature as possible with no glossy sheen. I've been using OxiClean and brush to get the old stain (about 10 years old) and mildew off. Do all Restore-a Deck sealers have stain? What do you suggest to keep the natural cedar appearance?
-
We will reply to your comment shortlyAll RAD Stains seal as well. You must have a tinted color to prevent UV graying. Natural color is the lightest tint.

We will reply to your comment shortlyI am planning on painting the deck vertical rails with a solid "stain" and using an oil base or sealant stain of some sort for the vertical deck. What do you suggest? This deck is killing me. I am too old for this. I would like a stain that is easy to upkeep from year to year. I live in rainy Oregon. I am going to try and protect my deck from the rain as much as possible, but it will get wet from time to time.

We will reply to your comment shortlyYou want a two-toned deck. See this: https://www.restore-a-deck.com/Deck-Cleaning-Reviews-and-Tips/two-toned-decks-with-restore-a-deck-wood-stains.html

We will reply to your comment shortlyHi,
I have a north facing covered porch with new PT decking.
After waiting the suggested the one year to allow drying would you recommend the solid stain for the decking?
thanks-
We will reply to your comment shortly3+ months and then prep. One year is not needed. You can then use the solid stain or semi transparent.

We will reply to your comment shortlyIf I am using RAD Solid Stain on a pressure treated deck that has never been stained (about 8 years old), what is the purpose of the RAD brightener if I'm covering it up with a solid stain. Thanks
-
We will reply to your comment shortlyYou need to use the cleaner first and then Brightener after to neutralize.

-
We will reply to your comment shortlySo bummed that you don't have a reddish color in the solid stain! I thought I found a great solution for our old deck...but I need a brick red color, since that's what is already on it. Any chance other colors will be added anytime soon? :(
-
We will reply to your comment shortlySorry but no. You do not have to stick with the same color as prior. Any color of the RAD will work as it will cover your old stain.

We will reply to your comment shortlyCan you paint a RAD Solid Stain over a hardwood like IPE?
-
We will reply to your comment shortlyYou should not use a solid stain on IPE. It will have a hard time penetrating into the very dense wood.

We will reply to your comment shortlyI am a painting contractor and would like to get the full range of solid color samples. Is there a discount to purchase all the samples. I put the samples on wood to sell jobs to my customers.

We will reply to your comment shortlyFor stripping rail spindles, can you brush on the stripper or should you spray the stripper? For the solid stain, can you do one coat one day and second coat another day?
-
We will reply to your comment shortlySpray on stripper and then pressure wash off. Best to do the RAD Solid Stain second coat the same day if possible but next day is okay.

We will reply to your comment shortlyI power washed my existing 30 year old deck that we replaced some boards last summer. So we are going to use the solid stain since the new and old will never match. I bought the restore a deck package. I will let dry after completing those two and then apply the solid stain. Can I apply one coat one day and a second coat a day or so later? Deck is 32x16 I’ll never get one coat on spindles/railing and deck all in one day. Or should I do it in sections to get two coats on in the same day? Thanks!
-
We will reply to your comment shortlyBest to do both coats in same day.
-
-
We will reply to your comment shortlyDoes it matter what temperature I apply the solid stain. Going to be in the 60-70's during the day next week which is when I'd like to apply but at night it gets down to 35-45. Is that ok?
-
We will reply to your comment shortlyYes, that is okay.

-
We will reply to your comment shortlyIf deck is properly stripped and Brightened, how long would stain last? I'm working on a deck I restored about 4 years ago and used Behr semi transparent stain... big mistake. Areas started to peel noticeably after 2 years. I'd like some peace of mind knowing I'm providing the client with a good product that will look good for years to come.
-
We will reply to your comment shortlyEvery 2-3 years is normal for a deck.

We will reply to your comment shortlyI want to just stain my new mailbox post (6"x6" x6') - how much stain (ounces) is in your samples? Is one sample enough to cover this size of post?
Thanks-

We will reply to your comment shortlyI have SW Deckscapes solid color stain on my south facing and west facing pressure treated porch floor which has been pealing and cracking. See attached picture. After reading the reviews I want to use RAD Coastal Gray solid color stain. Will power washing be sufficient before applying RAD, or do I need further steps?
-
We will reply to your comment shortlyStrip off what you can of the solid stain. Let dry and sand any peeling stain. You can then cover the intact stain that is not peeling with the RAD Solid Stains.

We will reply to your comment shortlyneed to restore our deck. Per the picture, we haven't stained for about 10 yrs or so. It is 30 year old pressure treated wood. It has been previously power washed. Should i use the RAD Stripper since the rail spindles may have some stain left on them or can i do everything with the RAD Cleaner?
Also, I plan on doing two-toned. Would you be able to tell me how much Classic White I would need for 110 spindles- 30"x1 1/2"?
thank you so much-
We will reply to your comment shortlyStrip and brighten all wood for prep. Probably 2 gallons for the rails.
-
We will reply to your comment shortlyDo you have a package that consist of Stripper , Brightener, Solid stain? Do you need 2 coats of hte solid stain?
-
We will reply to your comment shortlyClarification- Do you need 2 coats of the solid stain on the deck? If so, can you walk on the first coat before it is completely dry to add the second coat?
-
We will reply to your comment shortly2 coats. The second has to be applied after the first coat is fully dry. We do not have packages with the Solid Stain.

We will reply to your comment shortlyI need to re-stain a fence 6ft high x 8ft long ( 35 sections of 8 ft) so aprox 280ft and both sides need to be done so aprox 560 linear feet in total. I am looking to purchase the Espresso Stain. Is this the correct stain for this re-stain? Also what qty would I require if I intend to spray this fence on both sides?
As well do i need to just pressure wash before or use another product for preparing?-
We will reply to your comment shortlyYou have over 3000 sq feet. You can use the Espresso stain. Only one coat is needed. About 15 Gallons. As for the prep, that would depend on the current condition? Pictures would help.

We will reply to your comment shortlyCan you paint a solid stain over an oil-based stain already down and dried? I really don’t like how it turned out at all.
